Continuing the 15 year celebration by taking a moment to look back on 15 Atlantic-Pacific milestones. These moments vary widely, some were personal milestones, some were amazing moments of recognition, and some were huge, hard-to-believe opportunities. I am posting all of these with two big caveats. One, I am positive that I may have left some very important milestone moments off this list. And, two, they are listed in no particular order. There have been so many incredible milestones since A-P began and there is simply no way to sum it all up with just 15 pinch me moments. But, for editing sake, here we go…
Featured in the Vogue September issue. I was living in SF at the time and was in complete disbelief when I received the offer to be in a CoverGirl advertisement. I flew to NYC for a few days for the shoot. In fact, this was my very first official editorial shoot complete with hair, make up, and professional photographers!
Recognition from my favorite website. WhoWhatWear was my bible in the early days and they used to do a very fun feature called ‘Style Stalker’. Initially, the post ran only once a month and featured multiple street style looks from different creators, celebrities, and everyday people. The editorial team decided to switch up the format and feature only one person each month. They asked if I would be interested in being the first singular person to be featured and requested images. They mentioned that nothing was set in stone and could very well feature someone else. I wouldn’t know until it was published. I remember being at the Gap Inc. corporate offices in San Francisco when it was published. My entire team celebrated with me and were so supportive. To this day, it is one of my favorite memories of Atlantic-Pacific.
My first big brand trip. David Yurman was the first client that offered me a paid partnership that included travel. I was floored. In July of 2011 I flew to NYC for a rooftop party to celebrate the brand. I was so excited and nervous. This marked the first time I personally saw brands beginning to invest more in creators.
A feature with the cool kids. The Coveteur was a huge deal back in the day. When I first moved to NYC they asked if they could come and shoot a feature of my apartment. I felt like I couldn’t say no, but I was also terrified. They shot the multi-million dollar homes of celebrities! Now they would be walking up five flights of stairs to my one bedroom apartment in the West Village. It ended up being a truly wonderful experience and one to remember. Peek it here.
My first beauty collab. A nail polish line with Sephora! Nail polish was a huge and integral part of my outfitting for years, although now it comes and goes in waves. When Sephora approached me for a limited-edition collection, I was over the moon.
Leaving my corporate job. Taking the plunge and finally quitting my full time job to run Atlantic-Pacific was a big decision. I had spent nearly seven years overlapping my corporate fashion jobs with running Atlantic-Pacific on the side. I decided it was time to focus on A-P. My salary at A-P had far eclipsed my HQ salary years prior, but I really, really loved my job. And I honestly, I still miss it. It was at this time that I began having conversations with major retailers like Nordstrom around creating collaboration lines. While it was bittersweet, I knew it was time. I couldn’t continue to be in two places at once.
My Nordstrom Collections. Talk about a moment that feels so full circle and special. I had always been a Nordstrom shopper, and having a well versed background in corporate retail and fashion, creating a line will always remain at the top of my list of accomplishments. It was hard and fun and rewarding all at the same time. After the launch of the first collection in the fall of 2018, the Nordstrom team asked if I would be open to five more seasons. It was the easiest ‘yes’ ever. I loved working with their team. The collections allowed me to meet so many of you and see all the ways you creatively styled the pieces. Some of my favorite memories of the past 15 years!
A UK road trip with Range Rover. Range Rover was one of my lifestyle partners over the years and they brought me to some pretty exciting places. One highlight was embarking on a brand road trip from London to the Cotswolds. A few more special brand trips that have stood out over the years are visiting Japan with the iconic brand Mikimoto, attending a very special event in Shanghai with Omega, and traveling France with Vueve Clicquot. I’m so lucky.
Teaming up with a fellow creative from Tory Burch. Lele Sadoughi is an incredibly talented jewelry designer who launched J.Crew jewelry and later worked at Tory Burch while I was there. Fast forward years later and we are both working for ourselves, her building her impressive namesake accessories empire. I was honored and humbled that she asked me to design a collection together. We created not one, but two collections, it was such a blast!
A feature in Architectural Digest. Purchasing our first home in Florida was a big personal milestone. Two years after the house was renovated it was selected for a feature in Arch Digest. It was such a pinch me moment! I had never really dabbled in interiors and it was such a fun project to stretch creatively.
Featured in the Banana Republic Classics campaign. Banana Republic was not only a place I worked but also one of my favorite retailers. Their team was so lovely to work with and I was so honored to be shot and featured in their classics campaign back in 2023! A true full circle moment as a Gap Inc. girlie. You can see the campaign here.
Creating a dream collection! After a long partnership with Nordstrom I vowed to not partner with anyone else on a ready to wear basis unless it was a PERFECT fit. Well, that happened. In 2022 Tuckernuck reached out to partner on a capsule collection featuring ready to wear and jewelry. The team was a total dream to work with from top to bottom. I walked away so impressed with the endless drive and creativity of the Tuckernuck team. From start to finish, I’m not sure I would have changed a thing. This remains one of the most fun and rewarding projects I have ever worked on.
A wonderful write up in The Times. I was featured in The Times. An article written by the lovely, intelligent, and fellow color lover, Anna Murphy. You can see the full story here!
Boden’s Holiday Book. I talked about this in yesterday’s post here, but what an honor! I love the brand and it felt so wonderful to share a more permanent moment with a retailer I adore.
Celebrating 15 years. This is a fickle industry. A hard one to break into, and an even harder one to stick around in. After 15 years I am thrilled to continue to have a seat at the table. Thank you for your support!
